Only just heard this terrible news.
Nick was indeed 'Mr Ormskirk Cricket Club' - invariably the first person you saw on arrival at Brook Lane, rightly proud of his club and always putting so much back into cricket in his various roles.
Never short of an opinion, Nick had a wealth of knowledge of the local cricket scene and an over riding concern for the development and welfare of young cricketers.
I consider it a privilege to have known him.

Nick epitomised what local cricket was all about and he will be sorely missed by everyone who shared his company both on and off the field.
Having spent many a battle with Nick both in his time as a cricketer and when he donned the white coat, he was always the first to shake hands and have a pint with you whatever the outcome and over the years it would be Nick you would seek out as someone to spend time with after the game.
To Lynda, Ian, Matthew and Jonny, your loss will be felt by many others and my thoughts are with you at this sad time.

May I add my belated condolences to Nick's family and the Ormskirk Club. Men of his dedication to family and cricket don't come along all that often unfortunately.
Sorely missed as a friend and confidant.

To the Glayzer family.
It is with great sadness that we have learnt of the passing of Nick.
Nick was a true gentleman with a great sense of humour, always ready with a joke or a story to tell. He went out of his way to make sure Natasha and myself were happy in our time at Ormskirk and for that we are forever grateful.
To Ian, Matthew and Jonny you can be very proud of your father, he was very proud of you.

I have great memories of the time we all went to the Savoy in London and Nick's obvious pride in Matthew when he collected the Forty Club Trophy and made that speech in front of those people, and the time Matthew represented the club at Trent Bridge.
I know he was proud of all his boys, a sad and untimely loss.
Rest in peace Nick.

I would like to send my best to Ian, Matt And Jonny on the loss of their father. He was a great man and when I was in the country playing for Ormskirk in 2003, he really looked after me and was a real father figure for me. I owe a lot to him for really being there for me when I needed it.

To Lynda and the boys
As someone who has worked closely on the ground with Nick and who had the honour
of being made a life member of Ormskirk Cricket Club at the same time as Nick, I
know just how much work he did and what the club meant to him. Like many others
I will miss him and the 'OCC tea club' will never be the same again. To Ian,
Matthew and Jonathan, you made him a very proud father both on and off the
field. He will be sadly missed but happily remembered.
Good bye old friend

I was sad to hear the news of Nick’s death. I knew Nick since I was 14 years old when I played for S and B CC’s u15s team and he was a great bloke when I met him during Ormskirk CC vs Southport and Birkdale CC matches at Brook Lane in the past before his death.
He always worked hard with his groundsman job at Brook Lane and he made good wickets when I came to Brook Lane to play against Ormskirk.
I would like to pass on my condolences to his sons and all at Ormskirk Cricket Club.

We were very sad to hear that Nick had passed away following his illness.
I have very fond memories of our cricketing confrontations going back to our university days and they continued for many years in the Competition. Nick was always competitive on the field but a delight to reminisce with in the bar after the game.
He was a top man and a great servant to Ormskirk and local cricket. He will be sadly missed and all at Sefton send their condolences to Nick's family.

May I just pay respects on behalf of some of Nick's earlier friends to a nice guy who will be fondly remembered from his early informative days in Maghull when playing football or cricket as a young chap growing up with the likes of Rob Owen, Derek Spragg, the Mee twins, Glynn Murray and others connected with sport in the late sixties and early seventies.

Nick embodied the true spirit of Liverpool Competition cricket - passionate about everything to do with his beloved club but always keen to entertain members of the opposition and talk about cricket either during or after a game.
He was a welcoming face when you met him during away matches at Ormskirk and it was always a pleasure to catch up with him when he visited Wallasey.

Can I say how saddened I was to read your notice concerning the death of Nick Glayzer.
I shared many a happy conversation with Nick when visiting Ormskirk Cricket Club and found him genuinely interested in the development of young cricketers at Southport & Birkdale, particularly my son James, many of whom he had seen progress through our junior teams into senior cricket during his time as junior and development team manager at Ormskirk.
Please pass on my sincere condolences to his family and all at Ormskirk Cricket Club.

As Chairman of Ormskirk Cricket Club I would like to offer the Club's sincere condolences to Lynda, Ian, Matthew and Jonny at this difficult time.
After joining the Club as a Junior Member in 1965, Nick progressed to become the complete Club member. Besides his roles as Captain of 1st, 2nd and 3rd XI his contributions to the game, not only at Ormskirk but throughout West Lancashire District have been enormous.
His encouragement to cricketers of all ages and abilities is well recognised and his gregarious attitude and warmth shown to members and visitors alike made Nick one of the Club's most respected ambassadors.
Nick's knowledge of the game was not surpassed by many and his recall of cricketing facts and dates was certainly astonishing. The measure of Nick's popularity throughout the league can be judged by the time he spent chatting with the opposition after the game, whether he had played, umpired, prepared the wicket or just watched from the boards.
The hours put into the ground by Nick ensured that Ormskirk Cricket Club remained in the top flight of Premiership Clubs, never one to shy from voicing his opinion he was without doubt one of the great characters that have graced the Club.
His contribution to the Club over the last forty years was recently recognised with the honour of being made a life member, a honour that was thoroughly deserved and one that Nick was extremely proud to accept.
I, like so many will sadly miss his company over the coming season, however I’m confident that his three sons will provide plenty more cricketing honours and success over the coming years; we wish them well.

People like Nick make great clubs like Ormskirk. His unflagging commitment in many roles will be irreplaceable.
I loved the banter and like 'Dicko' I really enjoyed many a strong debate and Nick's willingness to share an opinion.
All our thoughts go to his
family. Nick was a lucky man in that respect; the lads will keep his cricketing
influence and memory burning bright.

A true gentleman in every sense.
I was delighted to take my umpiring course at the same time as Nick as he always brought a smile to the 'classroom'.
Every time I visited Brook Lane he always gave me a very warm welcome.
He once popped in to the scorebox at Lytham to say hello, as he had been at St Anne's CC. I will always remember him changing the batsman's total for me whilst he was there. That was Nick, always ready with a helping hand.
Will be very sadly missed.
RIP Nick.

Please convey my heartfelt sorrow to the Glayzer family at the loss of Nick.
Nick was a 'top man' and I always enjoyed umpiring at Ormskirk as he inevitably rose to the bait when I teased him about the 'poor' wicket and state of the ground.
He was Ormskirk through and through and I enjoyed his company tremendously.
He would always come and chat at the end of the game irrespective of the result and then we would get around to talking about the Comp and he would let you know his views about the movers and shakers.
It won't be the same going back to Brook Lane with Nick not there. Such a young age to lose such a good man.
God bless Nick and Rest In Peace.

On behalf of Burscough Cricket Club we offer our sincere condolences to Nick's family.
Everyone at the Northern Club sends their sincerest condolences to Nick's family and all his friends at Ormskirk CC on the terribly sad news that Nick has lost his battle.
Nick made a significant contribution to his club and the Competition in a range of roles over the years, and I will remember him as a competitive player, someone committed to the development of young cricketers and a man who, like many of us, was really at home at his club reminiscing on the good old days.
We all have great memories of Nick and he will be greatly missed.

I am in complete shock on hearing the extremely sad news this morning of Nick's death.
Having played in a similar era to Nick I knew of him but not much about him. It was only later when our paths crossed whilst running our respective junior teams that I got to know him a bit better and thoroughly enjoyed Nick's company before, during and after each game.
He always had a passion for seeing the young lads develop through the system and realise their potential at first team level. I am sure that, to this end, the ongoing success of his sons provided him with great pride during his final summer.
My sincere condolences to Nick’s family and friends at this very difficult time.

I just want to send my condolences to Nick's family and many friends who he had in the cricket fraternity.
I played for Ormskirk for a number of years and I remember at 17 when I joined, Nick really looked after me and that was typical of him - he always put so much time and effort in and we had many discussions about his second love of rugby league!!
I was shocked to hear of the news and my thoughts are with his family at this time.
