Liverpool Competition player suspensions for 2003 season
The suspensions listed below apply to organisations affiliated to the Lancashire Cricket Board, neighbouring county boards and the England and Wales Cricket Board.
Friday 29th August 2003
Following an incident in
the Orrell Red Triangle v Highfield match on Monday 25th August, the following
player has been suspended by the Orrell Red Triangle Club for one week from midnight on
Friday 29th August to midnight on Friday 5th September under item 3
of the Disciplinary Suspension Guidelines - Abuse of an
Umpire, ie 'Questioning the integrity of an Umpire for a sustained
period'.

Following an incident in the Maghull v Huyton match on Saturday 9th August, the following player has been suspended by the Huyton Club for one (1) week from midnight on Friday 22nd August to midnight on Friday 29th August under item 3 of the Disciplinary Suspension Guidelines - Abuse of an Umpire.

web site's Guestbook on Sunday 17th August with regard to the match
Northop Hall 2nd XI v Caldy 2nd XI on Saturday 16th August, and concerning
a particular Caldy player, the following player has been suspended by
Northop Hall's Management Committee for a period of two (2) weeks, with
immediate effect, from midnight Wednesday 20th August to midnight
Wednesday 3rd September 2003, for contravening the 'Spirit of Cricket'.
Northop Hall's action has
been approved by the Disciplinary Committee.

The following player has been suspended by the West Lancashire League for three (3) weeks from Monday 4th August to Monday 25th August 2003, following an incident in a recent Sunday League match.
This is the player's second suspension this season as he was suspended for four weeks by his club on Friday 18th April 2003.

Following consideration of an appeal from the following player with regard to his four (4) week suspension by the Liverpool Club, the Disciplinary Committee has imposed the additional penalty of 2 repeated infringements of the Spirit of Cricket by an individual under item 5 of the Disciplinary Suspension Guidelines - Accumulated Bad Behaviour.
This decision is effective from Wednesday 16th July 2003.

Following an incident in the Lytham v Wallasey match on Saturday 12th July, the following player has been suspended by the Wallasey Club for two (2) weeks from midnight on Friday 18th July to midnight on Friday 1st August under item 3 of the Disciplinary Suspension Guidelines - Abuse of an Umpire.
In addition, the player has 2 repeated infringements of the Spirit of Cricket by an individual to his name, under item 5 of the Guidelines for 'Accumulated Bad Behaviour'.
Wallasey's action has been approved by the Disciplinary Committee.

Following an incident in the Caldy v Southport and Birkdale match on Saturday 5th July, the following player has been suspended by the Caldy Club for one (1) week from midnight on Friday 11th July to midnight Friday 18th July under item 1 of the Disciplinary Suspension Guidelines - Abuse of Cricket Equipment.
Caldy's action has been approved by the Disciplinary Committee Chairman.

Following receipt of the umpires' report, the following player has been suspended for four (4) weeks by his club. The suspension will take effect from midnight on Friday 20th June 2003 under item 3 of the Disciplinary Suspension Guidelines as a result of dissent and the verbal abuse of umpires during the match, Formby v Liverpool, on 14th June 2003. It will therefore take in the weekends of 21st/22nd, 28th/29th June, 5th/6th and 12th/13th July 2003 with the player becoming available for selection from midnight on Friday 18th July 2003.

1. The following player has received a suspension of two (2) weeks, taking effect from midnight on Friday 20th June to midnight on Friday 4th July 2003, following the taking into account of:
a) a prompt
written apology to the umpire concerned
b) the amount of cricket in which the player is currently involved during
the week.
2. Maghull CC was fined £50.00 for not taking immediate action following the incident.

1. The following player has received a suspension of two (2) weeks, taking effect from midnight on Friday 20th June to midnight on Friday 27th June 2003, the player having already served 1 week at the instigation of St Helens CC.
2. A suspension of a further 1 week will be suspended until the end of the 2003 season.
3. 'Accumulated Bad Behaviour' points (2) will be carried forward to the end of the 2004 season.
4. Acknowledgement was made of the prompt action taken by St Helens CC.

The one (1) week suspension for the following player for 'abuse of cricket equipment', following the throwing of a bat after dismissal in the match Fleetwood Hesketh v Southport and Birkdale on Saturday 24th May 2003, has been amended to one 'accumulated bad behaviour' infringement carried forward.
The decision has been made following both appeal to and enquiry by the Disciplinary Committee.

"Following further enquiry and discussion between Malcolm Barber (Cricket Chairman), Walter Armstrong (Disciplinary Committee Chairman) and Denis Burns (Chairman of Worsley C.C.) and the establishment of certain previously unknown personal mitigating circumstances which will remain confidential, the original suspension period of 3 weeks from Tuesday 6th May has been reduced to 2 weeks from the same date. The matter is now closed."
