Neil Edwards - Monday 1st March 2010
Each year the criteria for the issue of 'Certificates of Sponsorship' are reviewed by the UK Border Agency.
Following the introduction of the new Managed Migration System last year, THE ECB held a consultation process to review the criteria for the 2010 season. The response was very limited, suggesting that perhaps clubs were largely in agreement with the criteria used. Currently players seeking entry must be of first class standard, having played at least 5 first class fixtures in the 24 months prior to the date of application, and be holders of a UKCC Level 2 Coaching Qualification, or its equivalent.
A new consultation process is to be undertaken this year with a review of criteria for the 2011 season. Clubs should submit their views to THE ECB by 31st May - emails to emma.davis@ecb.co.uk
