Fleetwood Hesketh and New Brighton reach semi finals

Fleetwood Hesketh and New Brighton reached the semi finals of the Liverpool Echo Invitation Knockout this evening after wins at Ormskirk and Wallasey respectively.

Fleetwood Hesketh's match eventually got under way at Ormskirk. With Hesketh electing to bat, they reached 111-8 from their 20 overs. Ormskirk, former winners of the Competition, could only reach 82 in return from the last ball of the twentieth over.

New Brighton beat neighbours Wallasey at the Oval by 8 wickets. Wallasey were asked to take first knock with Phil Luxon's 42 leading them to 97-9 with Chandika Hathurusinghe, Daren Peters and Andy Evans taking two wickets apiece.

Martyn Evans (35*), Hathurusinghe (34) and Paul Bryson (21) gave the Rakers an away tie at Bootle in the semi finals when they reached 99-2 with an over to spare.
