Championship deciders
Friday 14th September 2001

On this, the last weekend of the season, the winners of the ECB Premier League and First Division are yet to be decided. In the ECB Premier League, Ormskirk go into their match against Bootle at Brook Lane with a 22 pt lead, needing just 3 pts for their first title since 1980.

With the relegation places being decided last week, Huyton and Colwyn Bay making the drop into the First Division where the destination of the title is still undecided. Worsley and Liverpool are locked on 350 pts (after the latter had had a 66 pt lead at the end of July) with Worsley ahead on points earned between the two sides (27-7) whilst Maghull are in their shadows on 334 pts and must go all out for 24 pts at home to lowly Highfield to stand any chance of promotion.

Worsley are at home to Bolton, playing their last match in the Competition before their return to the Manchester Association and Liverpool travel to Newton le Willows. Can Liverpool make it or will they miss out at the eleventh hour? We'll know tomorrow night.

On Sunday, Huyton entertain Bootle in the final of the Chelmere Homes Trophy. A win for Bootle would bring their sixth successive triumph in the competition and their ninth in all in its 22 year history.
