Leigh retain trophy at the Oval

L&DCC Premier League Knockout Final

Leigh elected to bat in the L&DCC Premier League Knockout Final held over from the beginning of the season and used all their 45 overs to score an all out 182 against Wallasey at the Oval. After reaching 76-2, Leigh tumbled to 89-6 before 14 year old Steven Mullaney (26) added 71 with skipper Steve Bailey (33) before they were both run out within a run of each other. Colin Smith (11*) helped take the score to 182.

Wallasey lost Phil Luxon without scoring in the first over, bowled by Steve Mullaney and Mike Beaver was caught behind off Ronnie Davis for 7 with the score on 27. Graham Reid (44) was joined by Phil Rennie in adding 46 before three wickets fell at 76. 24 runs later it was all over, dismissed for 100 in 33.5 overs with Leigh retaining the trophy. scorecard
