Obituary - Mrs Gwen Tyler
Wednesday 1st August 2001

It is with regret that we announce the death, last evening, of Mrs Gwen Tyler after a short illness. Gwen, the wife of Ray Tyler, will be remembered as being the greatly respected First Lady of Liverpool Cricket Club and for her beehive styled blonde hair.

Taken on her first date with Ray to a cricket match in 1946, Gwen ultimately married him on 20th September 1948. She remained a cricketer's wife to the end and until only recently would be seen on each match day with Ray, watching the noble game whether it be out in the sun or huddled up in the car, keeping out of the cold.

Gwen was elected as a Vice President of Liverpool Cricket Club in 2000 for her work as an ambassador for the club having been made a life member with Ray in 1999.

We will all miss her, I know I will and we all pass our sympathy to Ray and his family at their time of grief.

Gwen's funeral is at Springwood Crematorium, Springwood Avenue, Allerton on Wednesday 8th August at 11:30 am. Friends are welcomed to Liverpool Cricket Club after the ceremony.
